Hi everyone! My Grandpa just bought me the iPhone 4 8GB, and I had an important question about back ups.

I had an iPod Touch 2g 8GB and the backup is on my iTunes. Is it safe for me to use that backup for my iPhone and then update to iOS 5? When I use the backup will it automatically go to iOS 5?

Sorry, I'm new to the iPhone game ;)

Thanks a lot!

The iPhone 4 8 GB was released with iOS 5 preinstalled.
Just transfer all your apps and music (and other stuff) from iTunes.

Doing that means he'd lose app-specific data. Restoring from backup preserves that (e.g. music play counts, app data like game scores, reading location on books, etc.)

Yes, like the user above me said, if I use my old iPod touch backup with my iPhone 4S coming in the mail, will specific app data, like for example Tiny Wings high score and Plants vs Zombies level completion be stored?

Thanks, ahahaha.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

It doesn't seem like it. May just have been an error, but I got all the apps just not the data.

Disappointing :(
