Hi everybody !!

Now that the new 32gb Touch is out, and even if Apple said no price drop for other models, it seems that it won't be the case, at least here in Canada.

Futureshop dropped the price of the 16gb Touch from 399.99$ to 369.00$. It's a drop of 40$. And it's not a sale, just the new price (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10092775&logon=&langid=EN).

Now I regret not waiting to buy my touch. It's now too late to exchange it since I bought it last december. And to add to my deception, the new units come with the updated applications.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you guys.

Thats a $30 dollar drop not a $40.
Wow this wild actually just a month ago they cost $450 Canadian.
I bought my 8GB for $330, oh well it was worth having it early.

That's some nice pocket change though. But I usually buy apple stuff through Apple so I can get warranties and stuff.

If you buy it from FS or BB or any other store you still have a 1 yr warranty with apple. Just because you didn't buy it from apple doesn't mean they won't cover it! BB is just the middleman. You can order applecare on apple.com if you need...

Thanks for letting me know. I just bought a touch from FS so one of these days I'll go back with my bill to get the money...thanks once again for the heads up!

maybe this price drop is only in canada and only to make up for the weakness of the US dollar/strength of the canadian dollar
:)

I bought my 16 gig Touch from BB about three weeks ago for $360. At that time Amazon was also showing a price of $358.

was that with or without the new apps? Amazon's 358 ipt does not have the new apps

Don't forget too that buying it on a good credit card (many companies now offer this) will often double the manufacturer's warranty usually up to a year too.

Without the new apps. So, I guess, I paid a bit more. :)

However, is the new pricing at Apple? Most other retail stores do not have the upgraded Touches. You may still need to get the $20 upgrade. That's why they knocked $20 off their price. So,... $369 still translates to $389 if it is not upgraded.

Just a thought.

Futureshop is now showing the (original, non-January Update) 16 gig Touch for 319.95 in Canada. The V2 16 gig (with the update) is 419.99. I guess anyone who buys the 'V2' is paying a very unnecessary 80 extra bucks, if you put all of the pieces together.

Also, the new 32 gigs are 499 at Best Buy in Canada - 20 bucks off the Apple.ca and Futureshop prices. They don't arrive until the 22nd though.

I just checked Futureshop, nowhere is the 16gb for $319. You misread, its the 8gb for $319v2 and $369v1 for the 16gb.

Good to know, because Future Shop will match their price no problem.

That's what I did back when I bought my 16GB in November and Best Buy was matching the US price ($400) and FS wasn't...yet.

That pricing was indeed there earlier but has been changed. The 16GB models had been on sale this week before they dropped their regular price to $369, and the $50 discount that was supposed to be in effect until February 7 was still showing up along with the new regular price. They have since eliminated the $50 discount.

Yeah. I was wondering why they'd take another 50 off after just having reduced it 50 to begin with. And why they'd put it as the same price as the 8 gig. I wonder if they'll honour any purchases made at the mistake price by people who were quick on the trigger and saw it.

The IPT at $369 does not include the apps, so you'll have to spend $20 if you want them. The IPT at $419 includes the new apps. It's on their website.

Just got back from FS tonight and got my $30 refund. Bought my 16GB IPT for $399 a couple of weeks ago and saw the price difference last night. They told me, however, that they only have a limited number of IPT at the $369 price. I'm guessing once these are gone, they'll only be getting the /B IPTs. I wonder how long the /B IPT price at $419 will last?

Anyways, always good to keep an eye out for these price adjustments.
