iPod touch iPod touch 1g replacement with 2g?

With only 2 weeks left on the warranty, my touch began to have problems and was sent off to Apple for a fix just after the 2G touch was released. Assuming I get a new touch, will it be a refurbished 1G or possibly a new 2G? For instance, I've heard of folks sending in old 4G iPods and getting back a 5G...

yeah, what happens? my ipod touch is having battery problems. it just loses charge for no reason.
