iPod touch Ipod Touch 1G Sync Issue

I am having a weird sync issue on my 1G Touch since installing iTunes 10. There are many cases with music, TV shows, and podcasts where the track will play to completion, the last played information will update correctly, but play count does not increase. This is a big pain with smart playlists that are built on playcount. Has anyone else seen this issue?
