iPod touch ipod touch 1st gen...3.1.3 firmware

got my son a 1st gen ipod touch to play around with...updated to 3.1.3 and was gonna JB it and put a nes emulator on it for him...was looking at my options and came across jailbreakme.com...looks like i can JB it directly from the ipod itself...anybody tried this and is it really as simple as it sounds?...any info is appreciated!

Jailbreak me is the easiest way to jailbreak your device. It does work. But then again there is another way to jailbreak your ipod 1st gen on 3.1.3 You can install Whited00r which automatically, with the installation will give you multitasking, folders, etc. AND will jailbreak your device. In fact, this will make your device faster because it's a custom firmware, not from Apple. I've tried this and it does work.
