On the fence
Ok, so I searched Mroogle and didn't come up with anything useful for this particular question. I have a 1st gen 8 gig touch, that up until a few weeks ago worked beautifully. It randomly stopped charging all the way, no matter how long it was left plugged in (I tried multiple USB cables to my computer, wall charger, and even a FW wall charger that I have from a long gone 4th gen iPod). It will charge until it is indicated about halfway. Is this a software fault, or a need for a new battery? I was also thinking it could be some other hardware fault

You probably should try and restore it before you buy a new battery; put it in DFU mode and then try to restore it from backup.

Thanks guys, I'll try that. If it works, it will make me a very happy person...although I may upgrade to a 32GB when the new ones come out.
