iPod touch iPod Touch 1st Gen Problem

Hey, I have a iPod touch 1st gen with a problem. I just recently did a factory reset on it and now I try to connect it to my computer and it wont connect or charge. I tried doing a reset on the iPod itself with the home and power button and the apple logo never popped up. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and nothing works. Does anyone have any ideas?!

there are two things you can try. well actually three.
1. Switch USB cords
2. Change USB input
3. Finally reboot the computer, if this does nothing and all else fails, call up apple. even though the device is old, they will do a free diagnostic for you and tell you if anything is wrong!
