iPod touch Ipod Touch 1st gen update problems

hi i have an ipod touch 1st gen that i tried to update to 3.1.2

and after the update the ipod touch wont power on if i connect the ipod touch to windows 7 itunes i get an error message

"an ipod was identified, but it could not be identified properly, please disconnect then reconnect the ipod and try again, an unknown error occured (2005)"

any help would be appreciated please i tried holding down the power and home button and rebooting my laptop and nothing works

fixed it what i did was i held down the home and power key for 10 secs then just the home key for 5 then i got a white screen and i restored the ipod touch with 3.1.3 as that update worked the other one 3.1.2 didnt work and gave me a black screen
