iPod touch iPod touch 2g 4.2.1 - Greenpois0n RC5 loader can't install Cydia

My friend has an iPod touch 2g 8GB with iOS 4.2.1, and his iPod's setting says it has 4.9GB of space left in settings but loader would not install Cydia, and would say "disk space needed". But the Cydia icon is already in the springboard, and doesn't launch when tapped. He's going to try redsn0w, but is there a way to fix this?

Restore and jb again could solve your problem. Mine wouldnt download cydia at all but after I restored it did fine.

Restoring didn't do anything for him.

Use Redsn0w instead. I've got the EXACT same device (iPod touch 2g 4.2.1 8gb), and it works flawlessly for me

And, with redsn0w, you don't need to go through all that loader crap. It just installs Cydia directly on the SpringBoard. I've tried greenpoison before, and it didn't work for me, either (but for a different reason).

The same thing is saying for my friend's iPod which is iOS 4.2.1, 3rd gen 32GB, and 26GB disk space left. Both were done on Windows. But did with redsn0w again and it is untethered with the greenpois0n boot logo still present.

I used greenpois0n to jailbreak my iPod Touch 2g and it worked great. Maybe it was because I was using a mac? If you want to change the greenpois0n skull boot logo go to settings and then boot logo. There you can change it back or install more on Cydia.

Succeeded with an iPod touch 2nd gen 8GB 4.2.1, took longer but Cydia actually installed this time. Tried with an iPod touch 4th gen 4.1, and loader doesn't load. All done with RC6 except the first one.

This practice is a cause of confusion, as a hard disk with a manufacturer-rated capacity of 400 gigabytes might be reported by the operating system as only "372 GB", for instance.

It isn't because there actually is low disk space, Greenpois0n seems to have problems with installing Cydia. You can just install Cydia with redsn0w on 4.2.1, but if you want to downgrade to 4.1, go ahead. Greenpois0n indeed is compatible with 4.1.

Cydia won't open.. it crashes I NEED HELP PLEASE

um i have a problem just like you. i have an ipod 2G 4.2.1 8GB. i wanted to jailbreak my ipod. so i downloaded greenpois0n and jailbroke it. when it was finished i downloaded cydia and when i try and open it doesnt. it like crashes.
so i got help from a guy. he said to jailbreak it again. that didnt to any good.
so i said why not we get rid of cydia and start fresh again? and so it took about three days for us to restore my ipod.
and my helper told me to jailbreak it with redsn0w. now, when i did that, it said something about this version of redsn0w doesnt support the ipod touch 2G or something like that.
my friend told me to jailbreak with greenpois0n again. and so i did just now. like this very day.
when it was done.. guess what happened.. i installed cydia from that loader thing and it said something about, i need more disk space when i had tons, and when i opened cydia it crashed on me again.

now i dont know what to do?! if anyone could help me or tell me what i did wrong or something.. that would be very much appreciated.

just in case redsn0w doesnt work, or greenpois0n, try limera1n or blackra1n.. if any of those dont work use sn0wbreeze.. thats what i used after all those problems ;D

i do have the same problem...i tried to jb my ipod touch 4.2.1 2nd gen 8gb but cydia did not install correctly and it said, no disk space.. i tried to restore everything back but unfortunately still, cydia wont open,it does not load...how can i unjailbreak my ip[od and use other app? thanks so much! i am begging for help...cydia is not working,,i cant open it!
