My Childs iPod touch 2nd gen 8gb is acting very strangely! It basically is super sensitive and opens apps on it's own! We can leave it on side and it looks like its possessed and starts randomly typing & opening apps:eek: It also misreads where you touch, for example you touch one app then it opens another! It's not jail broke and I've fully restored it & done a soft reset and it still does it!
It's an mc model and was a refurb when we bought it so is outta warranty:(
I'd love some advice on what to do as my child doesn't understand why I can't fix it:(
Many thanks

It SOUNDS like water damage.

A friend (somehow) managed to drop his in a toilet and it was acting like that.

Do you know if it's been in any water?

We've never had it near water no, plus it's only just started doing it and was fine before, really weird eh!

Well, the solution would be to replace the digitizer. It's not a hard repair (removing the old one is step 1 to disassemble the ipod), and the part is pretty cheap. Make sure you get one with a midframe & glass all in one, otherwise it'll be a pain in the ass.

However, it does sound like water damage. Shine a flashlight into the headphone jack, and look at the sticker at the end of the barrel. If it's red, your ipod is water damaged, you may need to blow the jack out with compressed air before looking in it.

Thank you so much for the advice. I've looked at the water damage sticker it is still White not a speck of red! I'm not confident enough to change digitiser so I'll try jail breaking it first then if no joy get a repair done.
Really appreciate all the advice
:)
