Hi All,

I'm a newbie to this forum, so please be gentle on me.

I bought a iPod touch a couple of weeks ago on eBay as a spares/repairs with a broken screen & digitizer.

At first, it wasn't recongised by iTunes so I decided to open it up to see if there was anything obvious.
I put a meter across the two outer pins connecting the battery to the bottom board but it was showing about a half volt.
I'm not sure which of these worked, but I tried changing USB ports and also cleaning up the headphone solder points (looked like corrosion) and it then metered out at 5v+.
Started charging, recognised in iTunes and even started up (with the broken bits)

I ordered a new screen & digitizer, put everything to the side and left it.

The following day I thought 'Lets try that again' but it was completely dead.
I tried retracing my steps from the previous day but it still didn't power up.
The only thing I managed to do was to break the ribbon from the digitizer to the plug.

Thinking that it might be looking for the digitizer to boot up, I put it away again until the screen turned up.

Today screen & digitizer arrive.
But, still no life.
Metering the battery at the board end, it is showing 1/2 volt again.
I've pealed back a bit of tape from the other end at it is showing about 3 1/2 volt into the battery.
I have tried a USB cable and a Power cable, but are giving power to the mother board, but there does not appear to be enough power at the battery solder points on the board to power the thing up again.

I don't think I missed any information here.

Can anybody help in why there is little power at the battery solder points on the board.
Should there only be power there if everything is plugged in properly and that it is either charging or powered up?
Could I have damaged the power switch or is there something else I could have done?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike
