This iPod touch was given to me by a friend, and it won't turn on at all.

I've tried the usuals, plugging it in, pressing power button etc. I've also attempted recovery mode and DFU mode, but to no avail.

Nothing on the screen and nothing registers when I connect it to my MacBook.

One thing I did notice is that after leaving it charging overnight, it is a little warm on the lower bottom of the iPod, but still no life.

My friend did mention something to me about this happening after he installed an app of some sort.

What do you suggest I try? Is it likely damaged or just something really obvious that I'm missing?
