I have a 2010 F150 with Sync. My wife has a second generation iPod Touch that works great via USB. I just purchased a new iPod Touch 4th generation and can't get Sync and the iPod to recognize each other. I get an error message on the iPod that states "This accessory is not supported by iPod Touch".

Both iPods are running the same 4.2 firmware. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

well my guess would be that the ipod touch 4g isn't compatible with the accesory but the 2g is older so it is. Apple wants you to buy all the new stuff when you get a new ipod.

Actually it's his car maker making him buy a new cable, fwiw

I hear what you're saying. However it is in the navigation unit in a truck that is less than a year old.

It is a standard USB / iPod connection cable. I can try the new one that came with my new iPod. I'll report back.

EDIT: Well I'll be dipped in cow dung. I just tried the cable that came with my 4G iPod and it works like a charm. THANKS a bunch. I don't get it though, LOL.
