So, my friend's iPod touch will not turn on or respond to any commands, and has a black screen all the time. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Where he's at:
  • iPod won't turn on if either button is pressed
  • iPod will not reset via hold of Home/Sleep buttons
  • iPod is not detected in iTunes
  • iPod is not recognized by other media devices (Xbox, Dock, etc.)
  • iPod does not appear to charge when connected to a wall outlet adapter

His system info:
  • iPod touch 32GB (second generation)
  • iOS 3.1.1 (not jailbroken)
  • iTunes 9.1
  • Windows XP SP2

Anything you can suggest that might help would be fantastic. He's out of warranty and out of money, so cheaper fixes that work are always better!

Thanks,

Slippy
