So I've got a 2nd gen ipod touch and it won't restart it reboots everytime the Apple logo shows up.

Because I had somebody coming around to buy it I interrupted it in the middle of an erase content as it was taking too slow figuring it wouldn't do much harm but it seems it needs to be restored or something.

I had a similar problem.. If you're looking for instructions on how to restore an iPod that won't boot, and so can't be recognised by iTunes, then this is what I did: hold down the power and home keys until the Apple logo shows up, then release the power button whilst continuing to hold down the home key. It takes its sweet time, but eventually you'll get a prompt to connect the iPod to iTunes, exactly the same as when you first switched it on the day you bought it. It should be all self-explanatory from there, and you should be able to restore your last backup onto your iPod. Hope it works for you too!
