iPod touch iPod Touch 3g problem

My iPod touch 3g 32gb is screwed up. I replaced the screen and lcd, which both had problems, and the iPod has the following problems: When I connect it to the computer, mac does nothing and windows says it is unrecognized. However, the lock screen does show up, but the touch screen does not work. It will only charge if its dead, and is still not recognized in DFU or recovery mode. Does anyone know how to fix this, or is the iPod just bricked?
