OK, so I have a kenwood car radio.... it has an ipod cable.. I finally bought a 32gb iPod touch 3rd gen from someone... When I got the ipod touch, it had an older firmware on it - and had all the previous owners stuff on it... So I decided to upgrade (restore) it to a newer firmware...
When I got it, and I plugged it in the ipod cable of the kenwood- it charged and worked... That's how I tested it before I paid for it.
AFTER upgrading it, it now IMMEDIATELY says CHARGING NOT SUPPORTED when I plug it in.
The ipod is jailbroken, fwiw. I've tried airplane mode... no luck. I know for a 100% fact this cable DID charge this ipod touch. AND I KNOW THIS CABLE WILL (and does) CHARGE MY IPHONE 4 RUNNING FIRMWARE 4.01... Something changed in the firmware................ Is there a way to make it work again??????
