iPod touch iPod touch 4G and skype

Hi,

I am thinking of buying the latest iPod touch so I can use skype. I would like to know if by using earbuds with a microphone I could connect to skype, stick the iPod in my pocket and talk as if it was a phone call. I want to avoid carrying the iPod touch in my hand, I'm scared I could drop it or someone could snatch it. What brand/model of earbuds with mic would you recommend?

You wouldn't really be able to go much of anywhere, as it requires a constant wifi connection, so you would drop the call after leaving a building.
