I got an iPod touch given to me. The screen was cracked in 3 corners so I got the replacement screen to fix it. I put it all together, but now it's just black screen. When I press the home and off button a white screen will appear then go out. Same happens if I press the home/off/and up volume button. I tried plugging it in to restore it and it said error, so I'm confused in what I need/should do. Do I just go buy another one or can I fix the problem??

try pushing and holding both lock button and home button at the same time for 15 seconds or so to reset the phone...

Sounds like a repair gone bad. Make sure you've followed the tutorial fully. Try another kit or send it back to Apple, I don't really think you have much of a choice...
