A friend has an iPod touch 4G, bought at christmas

When listening to songs on his computer, they play fine

when on his iPod they skip randomly.

This happens on nearly all of his music.

Something wrong with the iPod or the songs themselves?

iPod 4g running 4.1 Jailbroken

Edit: Skipping before Jailbroken as well

1st time on this site. In all honesty, I had no expectation to make an account. However, it looks like your question needs an answer.

For one, I must say that there is probably nothing wrong with the iPod. The issue being experienced is attributed to the moving of the device. The accelerometer detects this movement and associates it with a shake. Hence, the music app starts to skip songs.

Why does this happen?

A: By default, the iPod settings (go to the setting app>music) is set to "shake to shuffle". As a result, device movement equals a shaking device and a song skip.

To disable this feature, just go to your settings.app>music> shake to shuffle>off.

No I know it is not this, was the first thing i checked, inside the songs themselves, it is skipping about, like from 30 seconds to 1 min 12 then back to 35 seconds and so on

If he jailbroke it apple will not replace it.

Also if the songs have a high bit rate they could do this.

I have no problem with people jailbreaking; but if you asking me; jailbreaking a month after you got it is a bit stupid. It could break. Then; no apple support.

Hum....Unless you are smart enough to unlock an iPhone with an iPad baseband after you jailbreak, you can always do a DFU restore and Apple will never know. Hence, reinstating your warranty.

Why not just resotre your sysytem to unjialbreak and then try to play your music, if the problme still in there, send back to Apple. How do they know that your iPod jailbroken before?

Does the songs skip when you play it on the Computer's iTune ?

Perhaps you can manage the bit rate used ?

Not skipping on iTunes on the computer, and the bit rate of the songs skipping is different. SO i dont think it is a bit rate problem. any other suggestions.

Have tried taking off all of the music and re syncing
