iPod touch iPod touch 4g wont charge or connect to itunes

Ok so i woke up this morning and my ipod touch 4th generation 32 gb was working fine and i used up all the battery it shut off by its self as usual so i go and charge it and it doesnt turn its self back on so i left it there for about two hours then went back to check on it and it still showing th picture of a battery thats red and a it wont turn on i tryed rebooting it (holding home & lock) and its still the same i tryed charging via pc but nothing happens and itunes wont reconize it can u please help
