Hi folks,

I’m extremely enjoying my new ipod touch and just wanted to know people’s experiences on how they sound with earphones/headphones. Here’s my experience so far with my 2 earphones:

Ultimate Ears superfi4
- Good bass but sometimes gets boomy
- Harsh highs and mids
- Tiring to listen to for long periods
- Better or “exciting” listen on my iphone4

Sony XBA-1
- Good details
- Solid but understated bass
- Soundstage is better than UEs4
- Warm vocals
- Dull listen on the iphone4 but seems to come alive on the ipod touch

This is by no means scientific, just my experience in using them after a week or so. Have yet to test my Shures (earphone and a headphone) on the touch...happy to hear how it went for you...cheers!

ps. i haven't tried the new earpods as comparison...

So basically how do you descirbe the sound of the new touch? Warm, neutral or cold?

It sounded warm on my sony which I like. I read somewhere it has a cirrus chip rather than a wolfson. My 5g ipod video (30gb) sounded better though. More detailed.
