Hello folks,

Newbie here, looking for help with my ipod touch! Ive gotten a hold of a 8gb touch from my brother in law (older model - no volume buttons on side) and ive tried to download some apps to it however when i try to move the apps from itunes to the ipod there is no 'apps' tab listed under my ipod ? Its the 1st time ive had one of these and im hoping one of you kind souls/whizzkids could give me some advice!! Please help!!!

I have restored the factory settings on it to see if that would work with no joy. Hoping i can resolve this without having to take it into my nearest apple store.:(

Ok guys, thanks. Im gonna sound really stupid here but how do you do that?
Is this something i can download from the apple site?

When you connect it to your computer, open iTunes. Click on the device on the left area, and the main page that loads with a picture of an iPod will have an update button.

Go to this site and download the latest firmware (one with biggest number) for iPod touch 1G.

Once you download it, shift-click (windows) or option-click (Mac) the update button in iTunes, then browse over to where you saved your downloaded firmware, select it, and hit ok or enter or whatever it is.
