Hey all, I'm hoping to get some input, opinions and ideas from the forum on the best way to simplify a house's electronics using an iPod touch as the "central control unit". This is somewhat of a nerd pursuit, as all these things function fine individually, but the ultimate goal is to make everything easier to use.
The items I'm considering are:
Does anyone have experience with the above? Things I'm curious about are, is the Logitech app completely seamless? Does it control volume from the receiver, channels from the box, individual power triggers? How does Skype work on the iPod Touch? Headphones or bluetooth will always be required right? Can Skype ring on Sonos, so the whole house hears it? Sonos is pretty expensive, are there alternatives that are just as effective?
Any other things that can be automated? Lights aren't that important, mostly because it would be fairly complicated to set up if I had to guess.
The items I'm considering are:
- Home Theater - Time Warner app? Logitech Harmony Link?
- Thermostat - Nest
- Landline - Replace with Skype or Google Voice
- Whole house audio - Sonos?
