I went in today to fix my ipod touch and i asked one of the employees what they did to the ipod touch there to have the water droplets wallpaper, and he said its the new OS4, but then after looking online its obvious that that is not possible. WTF?

Is the water droplets wallpaper a specific wallpaper you want or what? iOS4 does let you have a home screen background if thats what youre saying.

The 3rd gen ipod touch is the only ipod touch that gets homescreen wallpapers. The 3rd gen ipod touch is the only ipod touch that is sold at Apple Stores, that is probably why you saw the homescreen wallpaper.

I think i understand what youre saying now. Yah, only 3rd gens get the wallpaper.

My screen cracked, so they gave me a new ipod. I got mine last september, so im pretty sure it was a 2nd gen, so they gave me another 2nd gen :( thats why its not working for me. that home screen wallpaper was sick

Too bad.

The reason why Homescreen wallpapers aren't supported on a 2g ipod touch is because Apple uses all these drop shadows on the icons to make them look "pretty" in front of the wallpaper. I think it looks crappy. lol.

I don't see why Apple doesn't support wallpaper in iOS 4 for the older 2G iPod touches. It's a simple thing.

They don't want to compromise the performance. It kind of lags a bit in the animation when you do have the wallpaper. I'm assuming they want it to be silky smooth. xD
