iPod ipod touch audiobook repeating chapter 1 over and over

ok, so i've ripped a harry potter book and on my macbook itunes, it plays the book perfectly. NOW- i go to sync it with my ipod touch and it just plays chapter one over and over and over. but on the laptop it plays just fine.
the only thing i did to alter the file was that i told it i wanted it to remember playback position.

anyone know what to do in this situation?
