Hello everyone.

I have a 1st Gen iPod Touch. With 2.1 firmware/software whatever its called. Now when I connect it to iTunes... it takes soooooooooooo long to "Back Up" everything else like syncing is quick. It just takes so damn long to Back Up. It has been about 20 minutes since I connected it.. and it still isn't even half done! It horrendous. I never had this problem before 2.0, ever since 2.0 it has been painfully slow.

Anyone have any ideas/advice?

Thanks to all who answer!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F138 Safari/525.20)

After 2.0 it always took an hour or longer, but 2.1 fixed that and now it takes 1-3 minutes tops. You sure you don't have 2.0.1?

Do you have iTunes 8 and 2.1? The combination of those should make your backups go really fast. Mine are never over 30 seconds.

I just checked and I have both iTunes 8 & 2.1..

Thats odd... if both those make it faster... and I have latest version of both......then Im confused as to why it is so long..

Wow, I thought that was only for iPhone. Anyway I have 2.1 as well and it doesn't take more than 30 seconds as well.

Ya I have the exact opposite... faster before 2.0... very strange...

Maybe it could be the USB Cable? I have my iPod Touch in a Universal Dock right now.... maybe the usb cable is faulty/wearing out?

I have the new iTouch 16GB (2nd gen) and it doesn't take long at all. Personally, I don't see what is so wrong with a long back up time because the only reason I plug it in is to charge it, so it is going to be in a while anyway...

PS Macnator, in the sig guidelines, it asks to make one continuous line of text seperated by commas rather than multiple short lines ;)

I have iTunes 8 and 2.1 and my backups only take a couple minutes or so, maybe try a full restore?
