I was wondering if anyone tried one of those devices that uses regular batteries to recharge an Ipod Touch so that you can go longer without having to plug into usb?

There seem to be a lot of them on the web, but it's hard to tell what might be worth the money.

I was thinking of it for travel, so as to listen to iPod Touch for more than the usual battery life. I've read the threads about battery life, and I'm only interested in playing music this way.

Kensington has a really nice one that works with both iPod Touches and iPhones, and it will double your battery life. Check Amazon for it ;).

We reviewed the iPhone Power Station ($16 if you shop around) and it's a great backup. :)
