iPod touch Ipod Touch Battery Monitor?

I have been having battery troubles with all the ipod's i have had, after about a year or a year and a half i notice a large decrease in battery life compared to when I first got it. I know that a decrease in battery life is normal but It seems that my ipod's battery life decreases much faster than other people's that have had theirs for the same amount of time. I was wondering if there was some sort of utility to check information on battery cycles and the battery capacity on an ipod touch. I have a first gen 16gb ipod touch and i just want to be able to monitor the capacity of the battery so I can monitor the battery health.
