I think I've booted it into DFU mode and connected it to iTunes. iTunes recognizes it and asks me if I wish to restore. I restore using 1.1.1 I downloaded from a youtube video's instructions.

My screen turns white during the update then it gives me:

the ipod "ipod" could not be restored. unknown error 2003

Tried googling for the error, but to no avail.

You should put the ipod into dfu mode and use itunes to restore it to 2.2.1 not 1.1.1.

Ahhh, so that's why. Ok, I'll try it out :D

Will update immediately.

Edit: Is it the 200mb file, or 56mb file? I'll try them both.

I've tried both now, but to no avail:

DFU: Gives me the error 1 >_<"

Normal USB connection (Apple iBoot): Sometimes extracts update but most of the time, just disconnects itself from iTunes.

Edit: Do I have to update firmware increasing or decreasing by 1, or can I jump all the way to 2.2.1?
