Ok so I'm on my 3rd IPOD touch...

I have 1933 Songs all Songs have album art.
30 Pictures.
10 Videos.

Here is what happens I load all my songs onto the Ipod touch and everything is good for the first 5-10 minutes. Then all of the sudden while going through cover flow the music stops and goes back to home screen. Once it crashes I can make it crash just by playing a song in shuffle mode. The more times it crashes the more likely its going to happen. It get to the point where I can't even play a song anymore. The fix is to turn off and then i'm good for 5-10 min again.

Here is the kicker I pulled all my Music Video and Photos off my 5G Ipod Video which doesn't have any problems. Does anyone have this problem with their Ipod Touch? I have restored the Ipod touch a dozen times and still get the same issue. I'm starting to think that maybe some of my files are corrupt but then I think that my 5G ipod has no issues whats so ever.

Oh and also all 3 touch's i have had so far had at least 1 dead pixel.

PLUS random artwork substitutions

I am having simlar issues.
My iPod Touch closes safari to the home page at seemingly random intervals.
ALSO; Sometimes the coverflow images are displayed incorrectly. The artwork is right as it comes up the cue, then when it moves into the center position, it becomes another albums art, but the title and artist are correct.
Only certain albums do this and only certain artwork is "pirated".
The artwork is right in itunes.

I was having the same problems, the crashing and the jumbled art. I took it back and got a new one. Havent had problems so far, but the screen does seem to be more yellowish, which is a different issue i had read about. Not sure if i will take this one back or not.

Your iPod isn't really "crashing." What you are seeing is the equivalent of "the application unexpectedly quit."

Try restarting the iPod, by holding down both the home and sleep buttons until it reboots. This fixes some of these issues.

Both the OP and I stated this happened often even shortly after a reboot. totally unacceptable, once every 50 uses or so i could tolerate, many times a day, no way.

I did a actual restore on mine twice as well.

Neither of you mentioned a reboot, but if you've tried a restore and that doesn't work then obviously something else is at work.

Try some new or, other files you don't normally have on your iPod as a "control".

To do this right, restore your iPod to factory settings, put some new music, videos, or pictures on it, and see if the issue repeats. I have been running iPods since the 3rd generation (original touch as some call it), and have run into files that will effect one iPod and not an other. Can't explain it, but when I find such a file I just delete it and either buy new, or re-rip.

Not sure on the Safari issue, unless you are trying to surf to sites that have lots of java, or Flash that the mobile Safari doesn't handle yet.

ipod quits to home screen

I'm on my 3rd ipod touch 32gig.
I make a lot of "on the go" playlists and if i'm playing music while i'm doing it, the ipod will always crash and it stops playing and flips back to the home screen. Drives me nuts. All 3 ipods have done it. Next Byte guys scratched their heads saying they've never seen it before. But I sent them all back and apple sent me brand new ones with a repair report saying "faulty home button". I'm on my 3rd touch and it quit the moment i put music on it. Cover flow seems to make it do it as well. I've settled on the fact it must be 1 tiny thing in my music library and there's not a hell of a lot i can do about it, just clean up my files and live with it i guess. I mean 3 ipods all being dodgy, not likely.

Fail

I have never liked mac products or the company in general, but I went into an electrical store and the person with me told me to pick out something to give a bit of business to his friend who owned the store.

So there wasnt anything I really needed, so I just grabbed an ipod touch 8g. I didnt expect it to be anything great but I am having the same problems with the apps crashing.

From searching on the internet it is obvious many people are having the same problem.

No one replies with any sort of usefull information about the problem, except try and restart the ipod...like anyone who has faced this problem hasnt tried that already...

I wouldnt even try and get rid of this piece of crap by giving it to a friend.

useless hardware....useless company

I like things that actually do what they say they do, rather than try to be hip and stylish.

just return it

the best choice with crashing ipods is to return them and get a new one. From what I hear DO NOT DO A HARD RESET! I hear doing so will dramatically shorten the life of your ipod touch and after about 10-12 hard resets the ipod touch will be a vegtable. I had issues with mine crashing so I am returning it. Hopefully the new one will not give me the same issues.

No more IPOD

I am having all of these exact problems, and if buying a new ipod touch won't fix it, then screw it, im switching to zune! I've heard way better things about zune.
And also, referring to the topic, i have been told that having over a certain amount of music on your ipod touch will cause it to act this way, my 16 gig has 793 songs and it does this! How DUMB! I don't think its worth it to keep buying new ipods if this is what you'll get, i think zunes look more fun anyway, ipods are boring!! :D

How to fix crashed Ipod

Try deleting some music or adding some just trued it right now to my faulty ipod and synced up perfectly and works again.

Happened to someone I know. It's more-or-less a known issue and you should contact Apple. There's all types of tricks with resetting this and that, but it's really not going to fix it long term.

THAT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!! i have deleted almost all of my apps and stuff thinking maybe it will work since there is more space, but it is exactly the same. It's even worse now because after it crashed a few times, I gave up on trying to get on my apps and started to listen to music. The problem now is that it also won't let me play songs. :( It just keeps going to the home screen right after I put on the song, and it doesn't even play it! (the song I wanted to listen to)

hold lock button until it comes up with a message saying 'slide to power off' or something like that and then turn it back on again and everything should be back to normal... if that doesn't work plug ur ipod into ur computer, open itunes, select the tab saying 'your name's ipod touch' or whatever and click RESTORE:rolleyes:

I get the same problem of my iPod crashing. I have a iPod Touch 4g. Had it since Jan last year. in the past couple of months i have experienced it crashing a lot. Apps including Safari, Twitter, instagram and some photo editing apps. Is this a problem with my iPod? I was going to start a new thread about it, but saw this thread. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
