hi all i just got my first ipod

well my whole collection of music is in FLAC and since the ipod doesnt play flac
is there anyway of converting to apple lossless without quality loss?

i have read i can use foobar2000 and itunesencode but i would like other peoples ideas or suggestions.

reripping is not an option

I know its a sensitive subject but you will not notice any difference on an ipod between lossless and 320kbs mp3 even with very good headphones

yeh i know but am a bit ocd about that sort of stuff
its mostly for peace of mind lol

what is the average time to convert around a 10track album?

i got a intel mac with 2gb ram if that helps in any way

10 tracks will take, like, three minutes to convert if you have anything even approaching a modern computer. For extra speed, configure XLD to use more than one thread (although not more than three or four). Then choose Apple Lossless for the output format and just drag your files to the XLD icon in the Dock. It couldn't be easier.

My Penryn MBP usually converts FLAC to Apple Lossless at 35-40X realtime, even when using four threads at once.

thx for help guys i guess i can leave my mac over night to convert my entire music collection
