I was listening to my ipod touch whilst it was on hold. suddenly midway through the song, it starts to cut off and it sounds like a scratched disc. I then try to see whats wrong by pressing the hold button and nothing comes up. I then hold the hold button and the thinking circle comes up, then freezes the Ipod then turns off.

Now whenever I turn my ipod back on, the apple shows up for about 20 seconds, then it turns off to a blank screen.

Its first gen and has not been jailbroken, PLEASE help if you have any ideas, I dont mind buying a new ipod but all my music is on there and has not been backed up!

Restore it I guess. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

To restore it you hold the power button and the home button for 10 seconds, then just hold the power button for ten seconds. This might take a few thries, though.

Not sure how to get the music back, though.
Is the music in your iTunes music library?

Have you tried plugging it in to sync it? Sometimes my wife's goes stupid and won't do anything and after plugging it in and bringing it up in iTunes it's fine.
