iPod touch iPod Touch goes crazy

I've recently bought an iPod touch 32 gb, and it's been working fine so far. However, recently I've noticed that whenever I listen to music, the ipod seems to double the amount of plays I've had and add 1. Thus I end up with multiple songs that have over 1000 listens. I haven't found any other problems yet, but I'm worried there's more to this than I've seen. Would anyone on here know how to deal with this particular problem?
