Hello,

I am planning to buy an unopened Ipod touch from a person for 229 euro.
It has a 16GB capacity.
The person got it while purchasing a macbook through student option.

My question is
1) Is this price reasonable for a second generation ipod touch

2) What are the things i must verify before buying it (serial number, ...)?

3) Is there any warranty or gurantee offered by apple?

4) I currently have an ipod classic which i absolutely adore because of its huge capacity. So, is ipod touch worth the money? fyi, i am a techfreak and apple lover who constantly wants to buy new gadgets, as most of you:D

Thanks

No!

You could buy it if you feel the need as it is below retail to have it now as it is below retail but in less than 2 months we could see an ipod touch released with camera and other features.

There not... but there's a group of fanboys out there who seem convinced it's gonna happen.

Then again there's people who kept telling us that Apple would never release a phone-less iPhone as their next iPod model. ;)

The next iPod touch will probably have some or all of these features: camera, compass, GPS, lasers, toaster.

i feel that guy is ripping you off, in the US the ipod touch cost ($230) i don't know the price for the euro (i'm guessing $230 USD is $290EURO) i don't know, but he should sell it for cheaper.

$230 is about €163. The Dollar hasn't been worth more than the Euro for a while now. But Europeans tend to get screwed (compared to the US) when it comes to the price of consumer electronics.

1) A new iPod touch 16GB costs 279 € with tax in Germany. 229€ for a new iPod sounds ok, i think... but as mentioned there are new iPod touches on the way.

2) why do you want to verify the serialnumbeR? just check if its unused an in its box.

3) 1 year garantee world wide

4) the iPod touch is much more than a iPod classic, becuase its more than a iPod. It is more like a PDA, if u need a PDA, buy it.

230$ is the iPod touch 8GB as far as I know and without tax. the 16GB costs 299 $ without tax - around 211€. adding VAT (19% in Germany) makes 251 € (against 279 €)

I second that wait... The new iPod Touch is coming in September. There is a good chance that Apple will lower the price or raise the features and keep the price the same. They've done that before. In other words... if you wait 1.5 months, for the same money you could be getting a 32 GB Touch or a 16 GB Touch with many more features than the current model.

Or... if you wait till the new iPod Touch is out, you will be able to pick up an old one (the one your friend is selling) for even cheaper.

Good choice. You are better off waiting for the next gen iPod touch. When it comes out it is bound to make the older generations go down in price.

I'd wait until the new one comes out, looks like iTouch 3G is coming out around September 7th from the info I've read, no guarantee's though.'

I think you'll get cheaper prices probably for 2G and option of buying the 3G from apple (after the 3G's out).

Kind Regards
