I am a new forum member, but not a new Mac enthusiast. I own AAPL shares, but I don't own a Mac computer. I just have one thought to bring up, that being the potential of mobile OSX. How Apple and Jobs is able to bring the OS to its full potential is their hands, but it is apparent (at least to me) is that the multi touch interface and the large screen is a huge selling point to capture the mobile market, for phones, PDAs, GPS, entertainment and so on. What :apple: is doing right now is having a lot of restrictions to the devices (touch/iPhone) running the mobile OS, third party softwares, and limited (or device restricted) software/hardware. What Apple should try to do is to open up the OS such that it acts parallel to the desktop framework, being capable to install (or at least Apple verified) apps/widgets, or hardware such as Bluetooth and card slots for broadcast hardware (GPS/TV). Software purchasing, downloading, syncing to device (via iTunes?), data syncing, backups (to .Mac), iLife/OSX integration and so on.

I see Apple as taking a pessimistic and controlled role in the growth of the devices, but I realize that eventually they need to realize and embrace their industry leading devices and hardware, consumer culture, and perhaps the new idea of an era dominated by collective sharing of information and software of the public.

What I'm missing out is why Apple is not allowing both iPhone and iPod touch to share the same mobile OSX framework (to an extent they havent achieved this), being able to share same softwares, applications, capabilities, limited by just hardware. Perhaps I am wrong, but I'd like to start a discussion on this? (This topic may have been brought up before?)
