Hi everyone,

Im getting an ipod touch very soon, and I was wondering if 8gb would hold enough for what I have...2hrs of movies, 90 apps, 200 songs. Please let me know what you think! Thanks

10 hours of movies... plus all the other stuff. You may want to consider a larger capacity.

That will not, under any circumstances, fit in an 8 or 16 GB. I'm worried it might even pack up a 32 GB.

My call: go with a 64 GB.

Do you have one? if so what's the size, and what content.

Content on my 16GB - Free space: 54 MB
  • 2 Movies
  • ~175 songs
  • ~1000 photos
  • ~50 Apps

Content on my 64GB - Free space: 30.9 GB
  • 4 Movies
  • 23 TV Episodes
  • 2 Short film clips
  • ~30 min of iPod video
  • 2500+ photos
  • ~175 songs
  • ~75 Apps

based on that 16gb is probably good enough

no one really needs a media device so i will say for my WANTS there is no such thing as enough. if i could take all of my ebooks, videos, music, and misc files with me i would.

My 32GB has 1,935 songs and 15 full length movies - perfect set-up for me

No Apps ... just Music and Movies:cool:

It actually is hard to say.

I think a 2 hour movie may take up about 600mb of space and 200 songs (assuming 4mb a song) would be about 800mb. For apps, it is hard to say, if they are productivity apps, they can be a few mb each but games can go up to a few hundred mb each, some I see are over 500mb in size.

No matter which size you get, you would never get the full advertised capacity. I believe a 8gb iPod Touch 4, you will have something close to 7gb of free space to work with. You never know with future iOS updates and new features, it would inevitably eat in to the space.

In my opinion, the 32gb is a good choice as the 16gb option is no longer available.

In my 32gb iPod Touch 4, I have a capacity of 29.1gb space. With 2580 songs, 6 x 30minutes iPod U cast and 122 apps, I have about 10.8gb free space now.

No brainer

8GB iPod = 6GB storage for $230

32GB iPod = 29GB storage for $80 more :)

There are several threads here asking the same question. Even on iLounge they pointed it out.

If you're looking to get a 4th gen, I definitely agree on going for the 32GB. My past two iPod touches have been 32GBs, enough space to fit many movies and accommodate changes to your media intake, but still priced decently. I first thought I'd only be using a few apps, but fast forward to today and I have over 200 apps on my iPod :p

If you are away from your computer for long stretches go with the highest capacity you can afford, if you have daily contact with your computer
8GB is fine .

I have 7 movies (on VLC), 1,160 songs, and 41 apps on my 32 GB 4th Gen. I have 16.6 GBs left. You'll be fine with the 32 GB model.

64GB is the sweet spot imo. Having the Touch as an iPod is not just about music anymore, but videos, apps and games too. Also photos look very nice on the retina screen. Add on the fact that you can record 720p video with this new Touch. Since the storage is not expandable, I would get the 64GB.

Am I the only one who thinks that 8GB could be enough for the content described in the first post? Of course it depends on the quality (music, videos) and size of the apps, but I think I sqeezed about that amount on my 8GB: 800 songs, 1,5 hrs videos, 5 apps and about 300 fotos.

But for me, the real question is if 8GB are enough say 1 year later. At least that was my case. First of all I thought I don't need videos on my, now I would like to put more on mine but there is no free space. Definitely get 32GB if you can afford it.
