I updated my first gen iPod touch to 3.0 but for some reason it really lags in boot up and shut down.

It takes 10 seconds to shut down and twice the screen went blank and it hung without me knowing so I had to hold home and power buttons to turn it back on again, usually resulting in a low battery.

When turning on I get a blank screen after the silver Apple for about 5 seconds before I get my homescreen.

Is this normal?

I'm new, didn't know that was there, thanks!

Is Apple turning into Nokia or something though? How could they release such a major update to the public with so many bugs?!

Welcome!

I don't know where there are some many problems. Hopefully 3.1 fixes them too.

Honestly it's my opinion the iPod touch first gen wasn't meant to really handle 2.0, much less 3.0. It's processing speeds and ram are laughable compared to the 3G S. It's not so much a bug, as much as a hardware deficiency. Sure, it runs, but it runs slow as hell. Can't wait till the iPod touch v3 <3 it would be lovely having all my tasks and apps be as snappy as they are on the 3G S.
