Is there anyway to sync this information:

If i read an email on my ipod, it gets marked as unread on my Mac's mail.app
if i read an email on my mac's mail.app, it gets marked as unread on my ipod.

Is there any way to do this without buying .me or .mac addresses?

Sure, you need to have an e-mail account that supports IMAP, though.

What do you use? Some can, and some can't. We can tell you how if we know which e-mail service you use.

Gmail!

I have got IMAP to work, but i need to see if it syncs w/ mail app on my mac

You just need to make sure your account is setup as an IMAP account on each device. If it's not, then:

On your iPod make a new account and set it up using these instructions:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77702

On your Mac, set up a new account using these instructions:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=81379

Once both of those work AND you make sure they contain all the mail messages you want to keep, go ahead and erase the old version of the account from the Mail.app on the computer and from the iPod. The Mac will sync with Google Mail online and the iPod will sync with Google mail online. All 3 (mac, iPod, g-mail) will all stay in sync with each other.

Thanks, but it only changes on both if deleted, not unread. but it's good enough for me i think :)

Read/Unread SHOULD sync, but you're right, I've been noticing a LOT of times recently where it does not. I don't know G-mail has been having problems, or if there's an OS X or iPod bug somewhere...I have no idea.

But I've noticed this happening a lot when it didn't use to.

You probably do have everything set correctly, but you're having the same problems I've been having.
