After a year of no problems, my ipod touch (running version 2.2.1) suddenly stopped recognizing wireless networks of any kind. I have rebooted, Reset Network Settings, and done everything I can think of. I am assuming that this is a hardware problem but does anyone have any advice?

Apple didn't just take Wi-Fi away from Version 2 :). If a full restore didn't do it, sounds like the Wi-Fi radio is fried. Sorry, there really is no better news :(

EDIT - I just saw you said rebooted, not restored. Do a restore. I bet it fixes it :)

No luck

I did a restore but still no wireless networks found. I assume you were correct with the comment about the Wi-Fi radio being dead.

Sadly so, if a restore didn't do the trick, it's probably beyond reasonable hope - it'd need a whole new logic board. You can contact Apple. I think they have a flat-rate repair policy that's slightly cheaper than a new one...
