iPod touch iPod Touch not playing our of left side.

I have an iPod Touch. I got it last year for Christmas. It has quit playing out of the left channel. I can here from the right. Others have said that I may need a new head phone jack. I have looked into repairs of this nature and have found that it may cost anywhere up to 150.00 for such a replacement. Any ideas? Help!!!

Kind of a stupid question, but just to be sure, did you try it with other headphones? the headphones could be the problem.
