iPod touch IPOD TOUCH or Laptop or both?

I just bought an IPOD TOUCH.
Nice.

I am looking for a laptop for around $500-600.
Now I am thinking about returning the TOUCH
and getting a Laptop.

Not an ABSOLUTE need to buy it, just feel like going
into a little more debt.

It's squeezing me for both, so I am trying to
decide to keep the touch or not.

REASONS to keep the touch????

apple's running their back-to-school promo. buy a Mac for college, get an iPod for free* (with a 299 rebate from apple). but it's only open to students/faculty/parents of students. if you don't need the laptop, then why buy it? wanting to go into debt seems rather silly for a reason for taking a 600 dollar plunge.
