Just wondering what everybody's thoughts are about upgrading to OS 3.0 for iPod Touch for $9.95... Thanks!

As of right now... not unless you really want push notifications. And even then it doesnt work THAT well with wifi. My wifi signal is often dropped and i dont get notified until i unlock my ipod the next time. (Kind of defeats the purpose:() But im anticipating some pretty great games and other apps to come out that will only be 3.0 compatible, so be ready to pay the $10 if you want to get the most out of the app store.

no.
some of my applications are even acting up since i've upgraded.

It's not the most awesome thing to hit the iPod touch, but if you want some of the new features, I think you won't feel ripped off by the $9.95 price tag.

I really like push notification. :)

I will be upgrading to the 3rd Gen this Fall, so it's not worth it to me.

But, if you will stay with your 2nd Gen iPod Touch for long, it may be worth the money.

BTW, 3.1 upgrade will be free for 3.0 users, right?

There will be a 3.0.1 because MMS will be out this summer and will require a software upgrade. So, be prepared for a update to 3.0 in the coming weeks. Rumors point to the end of July at this time.

Dude, they just seeded 3.1 to the developers and I currently have it running on a dev device. The upgrade for the MMS has nothing to do with the firmware. It is a simple IPCC file upgrade. You are wrong....

I have a first gen and it was worth it but not like the jump to 2.0. Push is great for me because I leave my touch on a dock so it is always connected to my network. Although it is weird when I come home and get close to the building and I get my alerts because I am suddenly in range it sort of takes me by surprise

Push notifications do work. My iPod looks like it has no WiFi, but it will notify a new AP Mobile news story while being under sleep mode for hours or even days.

i upgraded to 3.0 within the first week. the search feature and bluetooth are nice BUT i think the software is still a bit buggy! my ipod now takes longer to start up and much longer to shut down. It also has begun running slower and a FEW apps crash! i'm sure these issues will be solved in the update!
either way you will still have to pay the $10 to update so i think its worth it... BUT wait till 3.1

You are both wrong, the iPod touch doesn't HAVE MMS in the first place. That's for iPhones.
