Just out of curiosity, is Apple going to lower the price of the ipod touch since the new iphone is so much cheaper? Or will they keep the price the same despite the fact?

Keep in mind that the monthly cost of an iPhone is around $75. $200 (8GB) + $75 x 24 = $2000.

iPod Touch is $300 for 8GB. Price over two years? Still $300.

If they DO drop the price, they will have to restructure the other iPod price points, I think.

What I think they will do is bump up capacity (probably before the holiday rush, but at the latest Jan. 2009) and maybe add a new feature or two.

the prices are high - it takes 150 $ to make a 8GB ipod touch. I know that as a fact. Wait for the update, remember what stevy said at the press conference.
