I have been trying to get a replacement digitizer for my daughters 2G Ipod touch that I dropped and broke. :( Apparently there are different part numbers that all seem to fit. I know the original part number is 821-0627-A but a lot of the replacements have different numbers like 821-0627-03 or 821-0627-04 or 821-0627-06.

What is the difference between these replacement parts and which one is the best? I have been told that part 821-0627-A has been discontinued. HELP!!

Can anyone recommend one part number over the other? Has anyone had any sucess replacing their screen? If so, who did you get the part from? Possibly the part number changes just have to do with who made it.... I just want to do this job right. Anyone?

Sorry, if it's been discontinued, I don't think you can get it. You may want to ask Apple to replace it. They'll charge, but at least it would be fixed. If it's too expensive, you may want to buy her a new ipod touch
I looked all this morning and it appears it was discontinued. I don't know which part Apple is using when they replace them but I ordered one this morning. I know it is not an "A" part. I'll get back here after I install it and see how it goes. Thanks.

Well, I got the replacement and it is an 03 part number. I don't have anything against it as long as it works. I installed it and everything seems to be doing just fine. I did bend one of the tabs on the first installation and fixed it before I installed this screen. With the straightened tab, it installed fine. Everything seems to be working for now.

My daughter is very happy. :)
