iPod touch ipod touch screen digitizer dead spots

I bought an iPod Touch duty free and have found that on keyboard keys R, D, F, X & C don't work. As these are all in one region it would seem part of screen digitizer is dead. I have upgraded firmware to latest and tried a full restore.

Has anyone else had similar problems or suggested fixes or am I going to have to send to Apple for Service.

You can probably bring it into an Apple Store and show them... this seems like something they would be able to exchange for you with no problem as long as you bring your receipt.
