So I am having problems with my ipod touch so I put it into DFU mode to restore it. I try to restore with just the normal one but it says "Software for this ipod is not currently available."

So I downloaded the firmware to try and do the shift restore thing, but pressing the SHIFT key isn't doing anything. The menu won't come up so I can't choose what software to restore with. Please help I really want my touch working soon!

I have itunes 8.1

Are you on a Mac or PC? With a PC, shift should work. If it's a Mac, you have to press Option instead.

BUT now it says the firmware I downloaded isn't compatible so can someone please send me a link where I can download some that will work?
