iPod touch iPod touch sound level quiet?

In listening to my touch through my car's tape deck adapter, I've noticed that the volume coming from the touch itself is much quieter than my nano. As such, I have to turn the car radio volume up, which produces more "hiss." Does anyone else notice this? Even when I've got the touch volume turned up as much as possible without distorting, I notice it's much quieter than my nano. I've checked the settings, and the volume limiter is off.

I'd like to hear any feedback about this too since I'm trying to decide what new MP3 player to get, and I use the same setup in my car.
