I tried the reset buttons, didn't work.

When I go to iTunes, it says my iPod is in recovery mode. When I try to restore in iTunes, i get an error code (6).

So what do I do now?

additional info: I tried to copy songs from iTunes to my iPod, but it failed. So I thought updating to 4.0.2, would fix the problem, which is what got it stuck into recovery mode.

Recboot removes ipods/Iphone from revovery mode

Will this void my warranty though?

I'm still within 14 days of purchase and don't want to screw that up :)
I don't think it will .(maybe read the readme) Or if you think the ipod is messed up just get it replaced.

A couple of songs copied, however alot of songs failed to being copied.

My old iPod doesn't have this problem however.

Do you think that it indicates a hardware error? ( which is why I tried to update to 4.0.2 which got it stuck in recovery mode )

I would think so if you other ipod doesn't have the same problem and its the same version of ios 4

It's an iPod classic and the problem occured with 3.1.3 on this iPod touch that is brand new.

Thought that maybe 3.1.3 was very buggy, but now I think it could have been a hardware defect that caused both errors.
