iPod touch Ipod touch updating problem

Hi, im new here as you can clearly see but i have this problem with my ipod touch (3g) and it just wont let me update to the 4.3 because it keeps saying that theres no new update for it but my friends have the update. So at the moment i am stuck on the 4.2. Has anyone else had this problem?

That's weird. Try downloading the 4.3.3 firmware from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ While holding the shift key, press restore in iTunes. Choose the 4.3.3 firmware you have downloaded. It should update to 4.3.x via that method.

What size is your iPod? If it's 8GB, you won't be able to use the new software, as the 8GB never was a 3rd gen.

Thanks I will try doing that. But if that dosnt work I'm defiantly jail breaking my iPod. Do you know if red snow is better than green poison for 4.2?

It is a 8gb. So then I looked it up and ur right. So therefor my iPod is a 2g.
